Principal's Message

Melody Lee

Dear Olympian Families,

My name is Melody Lee and it is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I write to you as the Principal of Rafer Johnson Junior High. I am blessed to be married to my wonderful husband and to be the mother of our five beautiful children who have all attended school here in Kingsburg. I feel it is truly an honor to live and work in a community where parents, teachers and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth.

As Rafer Johnson Junior High Olympians, our students are provided with opportunities to come up with new and original ways to think about and do things because we believe they are courageous and capable of bringing ideas to life. We encourage all students to tap into their individual talents and find avenues to contribute something unique that will make a difference. We believe that each students’ authenticity can change the world.

We will ask our students to engage in learning in ways that promote exploration and discovery with the hope that they will find value in asking lots of questions because they want to learn more about anything and everything. We want to instill within them a desire to seek out opportunities that cultivate a love of learning and encourage a burning curiosity that will bring life to their imaginations. Being curious about why things are the way they are will serve them well as they try new things in their future. We believe that curiosity is a form of courage that will help them learn and grow.

We believe that education should take place in an inclusive environment where all stakeholders are challenged, yet support to be the best they can be academically and socially by acquiring, articulating, and demonstrating our core values of patience, integrity, justice, humanity, courage, and wisdom. We strive to collectively teach, demonstrate, acknowledge, and provide opportunities for our core values to be displayed on campus and in the community by all stakeholders to create exceptional students who are curious, eager to learn, and responsible citizens. We value education and the importance of creating an inclusive environment where everyone demonstrates our school’s core values and strives to be brave every day by doing what’s right, not what’s easy. By being the example. By being the difference. By being the best that we can be.

Go Olympians!
